Non-Profit Organizations Applying for Grants

The Pittsburgh Foundation has established the Neighbor-Aid Fund, a Current Distribution Fund, to serve as a flexible resource to support nonprofit organizations struggling to meet escalating demands from families and individuals as a result of the economic downturn. Grants from the Fund will be awarded by a distribution/advisory ncommittee, comprised of representatives from all major funding organizations. Following guidelines established by The Pittsburgh Foundation, the Committee will review requests on a case-by-case basis as submitted by non-profit organizations. The Committee will award assistance grants to meet increased demands by individuals and families on nonprofits that it determines to have the capacity to provide support in housing, utilities, food, and transportation. The Fund is designed to be spent down over time and has the capacity to be replenished should the crisis persist.
